February 9th / 23rd – Card relief windows/doors
As with all weeks, there will be step-by-step guidance and live demonstrations. In the first session we will use craft cutting to create a relief-layered doorway or window – inspired by colourful eastern, Maltese and Portuguese doorways, We will layer the card shapes to make a 3D doorway/window with shutters of our own design. In the second session, we will apply acrylic paint, and be shown a variety of techniques for adding texture and intricate details. By the end of the session, you will have a colourful 3D card relief layered doorway/window, which opens to reveal a world beneath it.
March 9th/16th – Clay eastern tiles
We will roller air dry clay provided and cut it into tile shapes and sizes of our choice. We will use a scraffito method to carve in patterns and imprint various textures. We will then plan the colour scheme for the tiles and paint them in the second session when they have dried hard.
All sessions take place from 10.15am – 12.45pm at St Mary’s Handbridge Centre
