By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Master tonal gradients
- Develop detail skill
- Use a range of monochromatic materials
- Create effect using limited materials
1.Weds 21st Feb – hybrid animals in pointillism
We will be introduced to pointillism and how to make gradients, whilst also combining images inside an animal silhoutte. This will be a small scale creation due to the slower more meditative process involved.
2. Weds 28th Feb – Quink ink and pen animal silhouttes
Developing on from combining images together inside an animal silhoutte, we will learn how to apply a gentle quink ink wash background and pen on top for mark making detail.
3. Weds 6th March – Combining wash and pointillism
We will combine the pointillism technique and quink ink wash technique learnt in the last two lessons together in this lesson to create a circular yin and yang design.
4. Weds 13th March – White pencil on black paper
You will enhance your tonal instensity, mark making, blending, proportions and detail skill in this animal portrait. You will be shown how to use your white pencil on black paper to maximum effect.
5. Weds 20th March – White acrylic on black
This session will depict japanese blossom and moonlight by painting directly onto black paper.
6. Weds 27th March – Black and white techniques of choice
We will develop our own styles and manner of depicting in this penultimate session. You will get to choose an image to depict using black and white techniques of your choice, with expert guidance on hand.
7. Weds 3rd April – bringing it all together
This session will be to consolidate our learning, refine prior work and/or apply favourite techniques learnt to a new composition of your choice with advice and guidance on hand.
